USD: Rate Cut Bets Lift Risk; AUD Holds Supported Range
Rising expectations of a U.S. rate cut boosted risk sentiment and pushed Wall Street sharply higher, while U.S. yields edged lower, leaving the USD mixed through the session.
AUD/USD held a tight 0.6442–0.6470 range and closed near 0.6460 as buyers continued to defend dips below 0.6450. NZD/USD remained supported near 0.5610, while USD/JPY climbed to 157.18 as Japanese assets underperformed.
In Europe, EUR/USD and GBP/USD pushed toward 1.1550 and 1.3120 respectively, supported by broad USD softness despite weaker data. Overall, improving risk appetite saw the USD end marginally softer, with commodity currencies holding firm into the close.
