Wall St Ends Mixed; Global Equities Slip, FX Steady

Forex Market 

USD: Mixed as Wall St Ends the Week Softer; AUD Holds Range Ahead of Key Data
Wall Street ended the week mixed as the Bureau of Labour Statistics announced its updated data release schedule following the reopening of the U.S. Government. The Dow Jones fell -0.7%, the S&P 500 slipped -0.1%, while the Nasdaq rose +0.1%. U.S. 10-year yields climbed to 4.14% and Brent crude gained 2% to $64.31/bbl. AUD/USD traded between 0.6504–0.6551, closing the week at 0.65365.
Asian equities followed Wall St lower: Hang Seng -1.9%, Nikkei -1.8%, and Shenzhen -1.6%. The ASX dropped -1.4% with IT leading declines, down -4.4%. AUD/USD held a 0.6522–0.6549 range, offered into the London session.
Europe opened choppy with GBP/USD trading a 1.3109–1.3199 range as 10-yr gilts opened 13bps lower amid expectations that the UK budget may lower income tax thresholds. Eurozone Q3 GDP printed in line at 0.2% q/q. The greenback firmed, sending EUR/USD to 1.1613 and AUD/USD to 0.6513.
European equities were weaker in early trade: FTSE -1.4%, Stoxx -1.0%, DAX -1.0%. Brent inched higher to $64.50/bbl while gold eased -0.1% to $4,165/oz.
Mixed flows ahead of NY open saw AUD/USD slide to 0.6504, EUR/USD dip to 1.1609, USD/CAD fall to 1.4015, and USD/JPY drop to 153.62 before recovering. Canadian Manufacturing Sales rose 3.3% (vs 2.8% exp), though USD/CAD showed little reaction.
Into the London fix, AUD/USD climbed to 0.6551 while EUR/USD fell to 1.1606. Wall St opened red but later pared losses: Nasdaq +0.7%, S&P 500 +0.4% while the Dow remained -0.3%. European markets also trimmed declines but still closed lower: FTSE -1.1%, CAC -0.8%, DAX -0.7%.
Late NY trade was subdued as BLS confirmed September jobs data will be released on November 20. AUD/USD eased from highs to settle at 0.6537.
