USD Steadies After Data, Yen Volatile on BOJ Talk
Currency markets remained largely range-bound as stronger U.S. economic data was balanced by softer Treasury yields, keeping directional moves limited. The U.S. dollar eased earlier in the session but recovered into late trade, with most major currencies gravitating back toward the middle of their daily ranges.
The euro and the pound advanced through the European session as the dollar softened, though both lost momentum as the greenback regained strength later in the day. The Japanese yen briefly strengthened after reports that the Bank of Japan was checking rates, triggering a sharp move in dollar-yen before markets quickly stabilised.
The Australian dollar initially found support during Asian and European trading but underperformed into the close as the U.S. dollar recovered. Despite the late pullback, key technical levels remained intact, with buyers still active on dips and resistance holding on rallies.
Overall, foreign exchange markets continue to consolidate. Near-term direction will depend on upcoming U.S. economic releases and central bank commentary, which may determine whether current range trading persists or a broader trend begins to emerge.
