USD Mixed as Strong Data Offsets Risk-On Sentiment
The USD traded mixed overnight, pressured early by improved risk sentiment and easing geopolitical tensions, before recovering some ground into the New York session on the back of strong U.S. economic data. The DXY moved within a modest range, while AUD/USD tested session highs before drifting lower into the close. EUR/USD and GBP/USD rallied on European optimism but eased after data releases, while USD/JPY traded within a steady range and NZD/USD edged slightly higher.
The USD’s movement was driven by stronger-than-expected U.S. retail sales and ADP employment data, alongside an ISM manufacturing beat largely supported by rising inflation components. However, ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, particularly surrounding U.S.–Iran developments, continues to influence overall market direction.
