Broad Risk-Off Tone Lifts USD; AUD and GBP Underperform
Broad risk aversion dominated FX markets as heavy losses across equities, precious metals, and crypto drove demand for the USD, with the Dollar Index firming by 0.3% while AUD and GBP underperformed. AUD/USD traded within a 0.6940–0.7007 range, finding support near 0.6950 before settling around 0.6970, while GBP/USD slid to a two-week low near 1.3535 following a dovish hold from the Bank of England. Elsewhere, EUR/USD remained muted post-ECB, ranging between 1.1780 and 1.1822, while USD/JPY held firm near 157.0 amid continued USD strength. The greenback remains supported by deteriorating risk sentiment and softer global growth signals.
