AUD: Firm as USD Eases Post-Data; Risk Appetite Improves
Wall Street rebounded overnight, supporting risk sentiment, while stronger-than-expected U.S. data briefly lifted the USD before it eased into the Sydney open. U.S. 10-year yields ticked up to 4.15% as equities advanced, while Brent crude fell sharply. AUD/USD held firm at the top of its recent range, making fresh session highs late in trade.
The USD strengthened following upbeat U.S. jobless claims and manufacturing surveys, pushing EUR/USD, GBP/USD, and NZD/USD to session lows before a modest late-session pullback. AUD/USD remained resilient throughout, supported by firm risk tone, while USD/JPY traded with volatility amid commentary on yen weakness.
