Markets Mixed as Shutdown Optimism Grows

Forex Market 

USD: Mixed Trade as Shutdown Speculation Continues
Wall Street was mixed overnight amid ongoing speculation of an end to the U.S. government shutdown. The Dow Jones gained +1.1%, S&P 500 +0.3%, and Nasdaq -0.4% entering the final hour of trade. U.S. Treasury markets were closed for Veterans Day, while Brent crude rose 1.1% to $65.10 per barrel. AUD/USD held within a narrow 0.6516–0.6538 range, closing at 0.6530 ahead of the Asian session.
In Asia, equities were subdued before the U.S. holiday — Nikkei -0.1%, Hang Seng -0.2%, Shenzhen -0.9%, and ASX 200 -0.2%. The AUD/USD traded quietly, finding support between 0.6526–0.6537.
Across Europe, equities opened higher as FTSE +1.1%, CAC +1.3%, and DAX +0.5%, while the EUR/USD climbed to 1.1606 and GBP/USD to 1.3184. Softer U.K. employment data weighed briefly on the pound, but sentiment recovered later in the session.
U.S. data was limited due to the shutdown, with NFIB Small Business Optimism printing slightly weaker at 98.2 vs 98.3 expected. Fed commentary remained dovish, hinting at further easing.
The USD softened modestly into the close, while AUD/USD settled around 0.6530.
