USD Strengthens as Geopolitical Tensions Weigh on Risk Sentiment
The U.S. dollar strengthened broadly during the New York session as rising geopolitical tensions prompted defensive positioning across currency markets. The AUD/USD traded in a wide range, initially climbing during the Asian session before declining as risk sentiment weakened, eventually stabilising ahead of the Sydney open. Meanwhile, the EUR/USD moved lower before recovering slightly, while the GBP/USD also declined and later regained some ground. The USD/JPY pushed higher as the stronger U.S. dollar continued to gain traction across major currencies. The NZD/USD weakened during the session, while the USD/CAD moved higher as the U.S. dollar remained supported. Overall, the U.S. Dollar Index traded within a moderate range throughout the session.
