USD Volatility Surges as Geopolitical Headlines Whipsaw Risk Sentiment
The forex market experienced sharp volatility as shifting headlines surrounding U.S.–Iran tensions drove rapid swings in risk sentiment. The U.S. dollar initially strengthened amid geopolitical uncertainty, putting pressure on major currencies, before reversing course following comments that hinted at possible de-escalation.
The Australian dollar moved within a wide range before settling slightly higher, while both the euro and British pound recovered after earlier weakness. The Japanese yen strengthened as the U.S. dollar softened, and the New Zealand dollar rebounded as risk appetite briefly returned.
Overall, G-10 currencies closed mixed, with markets reacting quickly to conflicting geopolitical developments and volatility remaining elevated.
