AUD: Range-Bound Trade as Markets Await Key U.S. Data
Currency markets were subdued overnight amid mixed equity performance and falling bond yields, with the USD fluctuating after weaker-than-expected U.S. retail sales, while most major FX pairs remained confined to recent ranges as investors positioned ahead of key U.S. employment and inflation data. The Australian dollar traded within a relatively narrow range, dipping during the Asian session before recovering into the European open, with buying interest emerging on dips and selling interest seen on rallies. Elsewhere, the euro and pound traded steadily against the U.S. dollar, the yen remained broadly stable, and the dollar index moved within a tight range as markets awaited clearer directional cues.
