AUD Outperforms in Risk-On Trade; USD Mixed as Week Ends Quietly
Subdued trading conditions persisted through Friday, with FX markets largely rangebound amid light liquidity. The USD traded mixed as US yields edged slightly higher, with the US 10-year yield rising to 4.21%, while broader risk sentiment supported higher-beta currencies.
AUD/USD traded in a 0.6670–0.6707 range, outperforming during the Asian session as risk appetite improved, before easing back toward 0.6690 into the NY close. EUR/USD and GBP/USD slipped from early European highs, falling to 1.1725 and 1.3451 respectively, before stabilising later in the session. NZD/USD held near the top of its daily range, while USD/JPY retreated from 157.00 highs amid modest USD softness. USD/CAD also eased from session highs despite limited reaction to Canadian PMI data.
